Job Summary:
This position issues daily avalanche advisories and avalanche warnings during the winter months to assist backcountry recreationalists in making informed and safe travel decisions. The incumbent will present educational programs to backcountry recreationalists (skiers, snowboarders, snowmobilers, snowshoers, etc.), local emergency service personnel, Forest Service personnel, youth groups and others as requested. Positions may be filled as a temporary appointment up to 6 months. The USDA Forest Service has legislative authority to recruit and fill Permanent (Career/Career-Conditional), Temporary, and Term Appointments under the USDA Demonstration Project. Under this authority, any U.S. citizen may apply.
