Job Summary:
AMENDMENT: Adds "NOTE" to Qualifications section. About the Position: The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) offers foreign language instruction in more than two dozen languages on a schedule that extends throughout the year. There are 8 language schools and 3 educational support directorates. Courses are taught six hours per day, five days a week, year round with the exception of holidays. Classes are conducted on a full time basis, 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday 7:45am to 4:45pm. The position is in the excepted service. Employment in the excepted service does not confer competitive status for other jobs in the federal civil service. The position is without time limitation. Selectee will be appointed as Tenure status. Limited funding for moving expense (First Duty Station) may be authorized for the selectee(s) who is being hired for the first time in the federal government subject to provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that this move is in the Government interest. If the person selected is a current permanent federal employee, Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government interest. The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center is located in Monterey, California overlooking the beautiful Monterey Peninsula. The area offers a variety of activities for the family and is a 1.5 hours drive from San Jose and 2 hours from San Francisco. Who May Apply: T his position is open to all U.S. Citizens.
