Job Summary:



About the position: The Human Resources office of Lassen Volcanic National Park is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, inspiring and friendly individual to assist with day to day office operations for the 2013 summer season. Government housing is not available. The closest towns are Chester to the East (30 miles) and Red Bluff to the West (42 miles). TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: This is a seasonal temporary position, with full-time work not to exceed (NTE) 1039 hours in a service year. Position will be Monday thru Friday and the hours will be determined by your supervisor when you enter on duty. Under this type of appointment, selectee(s) may be eligible for rehire in future seasons. Number of Vacancies: We expect to fill 1 vacancy at this time; however, this announcement may be used to fill additional similar vacancies. Situated where the Cascade and Sierra Nevada Ranges meet, it contains a wonderful diversity of mixed conifer forests, lakes, streams, alpine fell-fields, and meadows resplendent in summer wildflowers and butterflies. Various types of extinct and dormant volcanoes dominate the landscape, as well as active hydrothermal features like steam vents and mud pots. Recreational opportunities abound, with cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, and hiking, camping, backpacking, fly-fishing, and kayaking in the summer. Many of the park's trails provide outstanding views, taking in the surrounding mountains and foothills and stretching west to the Sacramento Valley and the east to the Great Basin. Surrounded by Lassen National Forest, additional recreational opportunities can be enjoyed on forest lands, including snowmobiling, ATV exploration, and world-class trout fishing.
