Job Summary:



This position is located in the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service Line, in the General Laboratory, of the Wm S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, Madison, WI. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of standardized tests and examinations under regular technical supervision. This is an excepted position under the Pathways Program. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: To be eligible for the Pathways Intern Program, you must be accepted for enrollment or be enrolled and seeking a degree, diploma or certificate in a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis at an accredited college or university. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF CONSIDERATION) Certificate programs are defined as post-secondary education, in a qualifying educational institution, equivalent to at least one academic year of full-time study that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum. An Intern may be converted non-competitively from the Internship Program to a term or permanent position in the competitive service, however, conversion is not mandatory or guaranteed . Interns must be US citizens to be eligible for conversion. In addition, to be eligible for conversion, an Intern must have completed at least 640 hours of work experience while enrolled as a full time or half time degree seeking student, completed the educational requirements from a qualifying institution, receive a favorable recommendation by an official of the agency and meet the qualification requirements for the position to which being converted. The Pathways Program participant will enter into a written Participant Agreement that clearly identifies expectations, a general description of duties, evaluation procedures, work schedules and minimum eligibility requirements for conversion to term or permanent positions in the competitive service.
